Financial education that reaches everyone
Hollard’s Streetwise Finance brings financial education to life in communities across South Africa. From buzzing university halls to rural business workshops, we're taking the conversation across the country, no matter the postcode.
We meet South Africans where they are, sparking curiosity through events, training and broadcasts that make finance an everyday conversation. Whether you are student, an entrepreneur or tuning in to the radio on your daily commute, we are turning financial education into streetwise know-how. It’s all about building trust and making opportunities for South Africans to back themselves when it comes to managing their money.
Step-by-step learning designed to build real confidence in everyday personal finance.
We don’t only have to think about money during quiet moments.
In South Africa, learning about personal finance happens between work shifts, on the taxi and while shopping. Stretching a salary across an entire household doesn’t wait for anybody.
So, to help you in your everyday life, Streetwise Finance has brought real money conversations and financial education to the airwaves with short, practical radio clips.
Sometimes all it takes is a minute to learn something that can change the way you think.
Each radio clip breaks down money topics in a simple and practical way. The topics cover the things that you need to know about money, like budgeting, saving, insurance and financial decision making.
Why radio? It’s the perfect medium to meet you where you are and doesn’t require any data. Sometimes old-school is the best school.
However, we all know that knowledge doesn’t mean much if you can’t apply it in your life. That’s why these clips are short, accessible and built around real situations.
We’ve designed these clips to be practical, with each clip turning small moments into opportunities to learn. We’re not here to lecture, we want to see your learning put to use in the world.
With these clips, we’re furthering our mission of building shared value. Streetwise Finance helping people feel more confident with money because that confidence is contagious.
It helps to build steadier households, stronger communities and a better sense of what’s possible. When useful knowledge reaches people in a way they understand, it doesn’t just sit there, it grows.

Big dreams don’t only live in cities. Across South Africa, in small towns and rural communities, there’s serious hustle. Spaza shops, side businesses and growing enterprises keep local economies moving. But access to practical financial education and small business development is not always part of the picture.
That’s where Streetwise Finance BizLab has stepped in and expanded its target market to support rural SMMEs with tools that make a difference on the ground. So far, over three hundred entrepreneurs across seven provinces have been part of the journey by getting into the nuts and bolts of running a business, from managing cash flow to planning ahead.
In many rural areas, small businesses are the economy. They put food on tables, create jobs and keep communities going. But without the right support, it can feel like you’re always playing catch-up.

The approach is hands-on and local. Face-to-face sessions, in places that are easy to access, delivered with partners like Avo Vision. This is not boardroom energy. It’s a place where people can ask questions that matter to them.
We’re building shared value. When entrepreneurs are more confident with money, their businesses get stronger. When businesses grow, communities benefit. Jobs, stability and opportunity all start to compound success.

Money decisions are showing up earlier and getting more complicated. But lets be honest: the way we teach money skills still feels like a lecture you didn’t sign up for and it’s easy to scroll away from.
That’s the gap Streetwise Finance is closing by taking financial education out of the textbook and into real life, where it actually makes sense. From campuses to communities, it’s about meeting young people where they’re at.
When we pulled into the University of Johannesburg and University of Pretoria with Mojak Lehoko for our Streetwise Finance Comedy Nights, the energy was electric. No scary jargon, no ‘market volatility’ talk; just straight-up real stories and laughs about money topics students deal with every day.
Mojak used humour to break the ice and storytelling to keep everyone locked in. Suddenly, budgeting, debt and saving weren’t these heavy, "adulting" chores; they were everyday things we could laugh about, unpack and master.
When the atmosphere is more relaxed, people actually lean in. We saw students asking those "asking for a friend" questions they’d been holding back on for months. They shared their wins, challenged the old ways of doing things and started connecting the dots for themselves.
When financial education speaks your language, it sticks.
