At Hollard, forward-thinking is intricately woven into our business. It has quite literally become part of our DNA and is now deeply embedded in the way we think, feel and make decisions.
That’s why we believe Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is more than a regulatory requirement; it is a prerequisite for South African businesses to progress, develop and become more inclusive.
As such ‘Unity in Diversity’ is a distinctive feature of our culture. As a truly transformed company, we know that it will better guide the customer experience and how we treat each other as a diverse range of Hollardites. It also empowers us to excel and contribute to the sustained growth and development of our economy and the entire South African community.
For this reason, Hollard has forged closer ties with the Department of Trade and Industry’s in support of the Financial Services Charter. We've made significant strides, with the development of a share incentive scheme for previously disadvantaged Hollardites. This includes the donation of a significant shareholding in the Hollard Group to The Hollard Foundation and the development of a black-controlled company, Etana Insurance.
In pioneering Hollard tradition, we were one of the first South African companies to launch Zimele approved life products to the under-served market.
Hollard is committed to the transformation of our country and economy. Proof of this is the A- rating accorded by the Financial Sector Charter Council and confirmed by Empowerdex, and as the appointment and development of black South Africans at all levels within our business.
While all areas of the Charter are considered important, particular emphasis has been placed on procurement, where we can make a contribution to the implementation of broad-based black economic empowerment. We are very proud of our track record and, remain committed to ensuring that we constantly provide an environment in which diversity is embraced at all levels in our company. The sooner we achieve these objectives, the sooner we’ll begin to reap the benefits of a truly diverse and transformed society.
