Our transformation philosophy

Our vision is to develop a supplier network that meets BEE requirements as we strongly support these initiatives. When we look at suppliers for long-term relationships and partnerships, BEE is the one key issue we consider.

Our current BEE rating is at Level 4.

In 2008 we successfully achieved our target of 50% BBBEE (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment) procurement spend and we’re well on the way to meeting our 70% target by 2014.

We feel it’s essential for us to report on the BEE status of all our suppliers and we acquire BEE ratings through a certificate provided by a SANAS approved verification agency. Hollard have secured discounted rates for Hollard Select Suppliers, partners and brokers with Honeycomb, a SANAS accredited verification agency.

If your turnover is less than R5 million per annum, BEE does not apply.

It is not all about ownership. EME’s (Exempt Micro Enterprise) automatically qualify for a level 4 but must obtain an EME letter. Companies with BEE ownership are also required to be officially accredited before their BEE ratings can be recognised.

Questions you should ask

Have you been rated?

If no, please consider getting rated, Hollard requires all suppliers to have a rating.

Have you been rated on the broad based DTI Codes by a SANAS approved verification agency?

If yes, please fax or email us a copy of the certificate, with your Supplier Application Form.

No, please convert your current rating to the new BEE ratings and have it validated by a SANAS approved verification agency.

Has your certificate expired (only valid for one financial year)?

If so, please get it renewed and fax or email us a copy

Are you an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME)?

If so, please provide us with a letter from an accredited accountant or auditor, which must:

  • State your company’s annual turnover is below R5m;
  • be on the accounting or auditing company’s letterhead;
  • state your company’s financial period; and
  • be renewed every financial year.
