Q. How does Life Insurance work?

This Life Insurance Plan provides affordable and comprehensive cover to you and your family in the event of your death. This life insurance cover comes with the following important benefits:

  • A payout of between R200 000 and R2 million in the event of your death or if you contract a terminal illness.

The pay-out amount is selected by you at application stage, depending on what your needs and budget are.

You can also select from additional optional cover benefits, including funeral benefits, serious illness, functional impairment, occupational disability and female trauma protector.

Q. Why do I need this?

This Life Insurance Plan provides essential cover for you and your family if you die or are unable to continue working due to an illness or serious disability. In addition, because our life insurance is underwritten (based on your unique risk profile), you will get a cheaper premium. You will also benefit from:

  • A pay-out of between R200 000 and R2 million in the event of your death or if you contract a terminal illness for the people you care about most and who need your support - your beneficiaries. The pay-out will depend on the level of cover you choose. You will be required to nominate your beneficiary / beneficiaries
  • Death, terminal illness and funeral benefits
  • Monthly premiums of as little as R100 (depending on your preferences and what you are able to afford)

We also offer you additional optional cover benefits, including funeral benefits, serious illness, functional impairment, occupational disability and female trauma protector.

Q. What does this policy cover?*

Through the compulsory life cover benefit, you will be covered for:

  • Death
  • Terminal illness

You can also select from additional optional cover benefits such as:

  • Funeral benefit: A lump sum is payable to support your family with funeral arrangements in the event of your death.
  • Serious illness: A lump sum is payable should you suffer a serious illness such as a heart attack, stroke or kidney failure etc.
  • Functional impairment: A lump sum is payable should you become blind or deaf, or should you lose a limb or the use of a limb etc.
  • Occupational disability: You will receive a lump sum should you become unable to perform your own or a similar occupation
  • Female trauma protector cover: Women have unique circumstances which require specialised cover. Our female trauma protector is specifically designed for the needs of women and covers certain pregnancy complications, female cancer, hijacking and rape incidents.

Q. Do I qualify?*

To qualify for Life Insurance, you need to be above the age of 18 and below the age of 60.

Q. What does this policy cost?

Premiums start from as little as R100 per month and vary depending on your individual risk profile and the level of cover you select. Your status as a smoker, age, gender, monthly income, occupation, and highest level of education will influence your risk profile.
