Risk Management Philosophy

Our experience has taught us that simply adjusting rates in response to changes in the claims experience is not always sustainable. We prefer to manage risk and where the claims experience is negative we engage with you to identify and resolve the underlying cause. 

This approach has proven successful with a number of our key clients, from diverse industries. 

Underwriting Philosophy

We appreciate the inconvenience of going for medicals but it remains an important risk management tool to protect all members on a scheme. However, to ensure that the medical examination happens efficiently and smoothly, we have contracted with a nursing service that is able to visit client offices and conduct the medical tests with minimal inconvenience.

Claims Philosophy

As a specialist group risk underwriter, we at Hollard Group Risk understand the importance of paying claims and paying them as quickly as possible. We also understand that the terms and conditions of the policy are an important part of risk management and are in place to protect the claims experience of the scheme.

International Risk Solutions

Through its association with Hollard Group Risk South Africa, Hollard Group Risk International offers the expertise and specialist capability gained in the South African market in selected international markets.

HGRI was established to address the growing needs of Hollard Group Risk clients who have international operations and where employee benefit solutions are required. HGRI have established insurance operations in multiple international territories and provide seamless risk solutions for group insurance benefits, including death, disability and health insurance.

Multinational Pooling

Multinational pooling occurs when a multinational company combines all the employee benefit contracts from the various countries in which it operates, into one unique account (or pool), for the benefit of combined experience rating.

Alternative Risk Transfer

Alternative Risk Transfer is an insurance structure which allows a policyholder to benefit from good claims experience, whilst having peace of mind knowing that 100% cover is in place.
